I am normally very kind until someone pushes my buttons the wrong way. Even then I remain calm and polite typically. Lately drivers get on my nerves (Road rage) and I say to myself they are just having a bad day! However it is so unsafe!!
From the safety of my garden beds
it is easy to be kind to the flowers and the vegetables . . .
even the ground hogs,
who sometimes eat the cauliflower and brussel sprouts I’m trying to grow.
I set the humane trap with plenty of store bought lettuce
to keep him or her fed throughout the night,
and then take them to the quarry in the morning,
where they might find relatives I’ve taken before . . .
three so far,
this year.
Even though they cost me money and meals,
they deserve kindness . . .
they are doing what is in their nature to do.
People
deserve kindness too,
even when they are inconsiderate,
thoughtless,
or even downright cruel or violent.
They are living in their own nightmares,
dealing with unhappy lives
the best they can,
even if we don’t see it that way.
They are not happy or content,
or at peace with themselves . . .
this is heartbreaking when I look at it from that perspective.
Otherwise,
they wouldn’t be inflicting pain on others.
These people might need kindness
even more than we do.
Kindness
can turn a life around . . .
we may not get to witness this,
but it happens.
It is not always for us to know
when or how we have changed a life.
I have found though,
that most of the time,
if I respond to an unkind person
with kindness,
it diffuses the bomb. ♥
All of the universe’s beings need to make a living. Racoons in the late summer when the sweet corn is ready to eat. I also have a non fatal trap. I have found a tin of plain sardines entices them pretty well.
More specifically, my next-door neighbor comes to mind. She’s in her late 80s, with failing health, not at all mobile now so she can’t even come out and sit on her front porch bench the way she used to every day, where she could watch the life on our street and we could exchange greetings if I were out in the yard working. My husband takes care of her trash, recycling, and compost bins every week, taking them to the curb and bringing them back. I went over the other day to pick berries at her invitation because her rotation of three daughters wouldn’t be there for a few days and the berries were going to waste. We chatted a bit and she’d likely appreciate a longer visit. That’s a time commitment (she’s a talker). I don’t think she’s sitting there wondering why I don’t visit more often so it isn’t that she’s waiting, exactly–more that the opportunity to extend kindness is there.
Usually my kindness is with my fellow people and with all i encounter, so I am not aware of someone waiting for me to be kind, but may be kindness towards myself could increase, but at least it is work in progress already. May all have a lovely weekend, may be with good music and heartwarming encounters. Peace.
I don’t know that anyone is waiting for me to be kind but they are all hoping I will be kind. The wording of the question seems to imply that I am not always kind. All I can say is that I always strive to be kind.
I don’t need anyone waiting for me to be kind. I’m already doing that by working on improving integrity. It all starts and ends with heart. Technique without heart is charm. Charm is harm.
Waiting for me to be kind? Hmmm…. I am kind to everyone, sometimes to a fault as I recently had a very strange conversation with a homeless man when I was walking my dogs one morning. My husband got really upset when I told him about the conversation and how the man told me that we “needed to be careful around here.” He could have meant it in kindness, but we passed this man as a family the other day (which is why the conversation came up), and he didn’t say a word… even though he told me during that previous encounter to thank my husband for helping him out (which didn’t happen).
I will still be kind to everyone I encounter, but I will also be cautious when necessary. I just don’t think anyone’s “waiting” for me to be kind to them.
Everyone, including animals, places, things.
Happy Saturday! https://nationaltoday.com/today/
I remember last year we actually did the International Cherry Pit Spitting Day with my dad in my backyard, it was fun 🙂
Currently there is a nemesis in my journey. I can be tolerant, that’s a start. I don’t really think this person is waiting for me to be kind to them, as I feel his disdain towards me. Yes acts of kindness would throw him off. And I proceed with caution for he is an adult bully. May your weekend be restful amongst the firecracker noise🧨🌻Ps I felt the need to explain this individual is abusive in nature bully. I’ve been emotionally “ hit“ by him numerous times. My choosing tolerance is the only way of kindness I can be at this time.
I am sorry you are being bullied. You are right to not accept it. And I don’t think you need to be “kind” to a bully. He doesn’t deserve it.
Take care of yourself first.
I agree, Linda. I’m someone who tells it like it is without sugar coding. If it were me, I’m likelier to give the bully a taste of my own medicine. He needs to be put in his place.
Everyone is here and wants kindness. Everyone deserves kindness. When I let go of my falseness I am being kind to myself and others who are also me . Wrote doing this meditation method I was super harsh within myself. I had this military voice of “man up” screaming at me 24/7. Due to these pictures from childhood that I took, I become an over achiever, perfecting and always doing things. My picture world in my mind drove me to illness- migraines specifically.
Now after learning the medication method of letting go of my falseness- my false human mind world of delusions I am finally feeling freedom and happiness.
Letting go has changed my life and in turn I’m becoming so much more confident and kind . I’m kinder because I know deep suffering and despair. I’m able to become compassionate naturally not by forse of any kind.
Natures flow of letting go creates True wisdom which is the freedom. I’m so grateful. Thank you .

you are kind to your creatures too,
dear Joseph . . .
I knew this is who you are. ♥
ps. I’m pretty sure my ground hogs
would not like sardines.
Everyone I meet, really. Aren’t we all?

I believe,
dear Ose,
that kindness benefits the one who offers it
at least as much as the beneficiary.
It never, ever hurts to be kind. ♥
I’m not sure if they are waiting, but there are people that I want to check in with, and see how they are doing. Thanks for the reminder. 🙏
I try to be kind to all.

I will have a baseline level of kindness, including to myself, and others can interpret it as they may.

I have the intention to be kind and not make it exclusive, then the next person, outside myself, will be waiting and accept it.

Kindness,
dear Carla,
will very definitely
throw the bully off.
ps. Don’t take him personally . . .
he has no real power-
he is just a bully. ♥
Kindness to yourself matters!
